Meet Your Midwife
If you’re here, you may be looking for something a little different from standard maternity care. More time. More continuity. A midwife who feels human, present, and genuinely on your side.

"Before the birth Amie spent a lot of time getting to know us and understanding exactly what we wanted and advocating for us to ensure the birth plan matched what was possible as closely as possible."
About Midwife Amie
I’ve spent over a decade working in maternity care, beginning my midwifery training in 2015 after working in the world of fertility. Supporting people through emotional and sometimes complicated paths to parenthood taught me early on how important it is to feel truly listened to, believed, and supported as an individual, not just another appointment in a busy system.

After qualifying as a midwife, I worked across all areas of NHS maternity services, including labour wards, birth centres, community teams and continuity of carer models. I gained invaluable experience and worked with some incredible professionals. Over time though, I found myself wanting to offer more than the system allowed. Appointments were rushed, continuity was difficult to protect, and I met too many women who felt anxious, overwhelmed, or unheard.

That feeling, of wanting to care differently but being limited by the system, is why I chose to step away from the NHS.

In 2023, I moved fully into private midwifery, and it has been the best and most fulfilling decisions of my career. Working outside of the system means I can offer unrushed appointments, genuine continuity, and care that is shaped around you. I support families planning home births, hospital births, and planned caesareans, but more importantly, I support people, not birth plans.

What often sets my care apart is how it feels. Appointments are relaxed, conversational, and often filled with humour. Pregnancy and birth are huge experiences, and sometimes a laugh is just as important as the clinical side of things. Families regularly tell me that seeing me feels less like an appointment and more like catching up with someone they trust, while still knowing they are in very safe, experienced hands.

I don’t believe there is one right way to give birth. My role is to give you clear, evidence based information, to advocate for you when needed, and to help you feel confident making decisions that feel right for you and your baby. This is especially important if you are carrying anxiety, previous trauma, or disappointment from past care.

In 2022, I qualified as a Professional Midwifery Advocate, which means advocacy sits at the heart of how I work. Whether you are birthing at home or in hospital, I am there to help you feel heard, respected, and supported.

Supporting families to birth outside of the constraints of a system is my passion. I care deeply about the families I work with, and it is an honour to be invited into such a personal chapter of your life.
If you are looking for experienced, personalised care with warmth, humour, and true continuity, I would love to be the midwife who walks alongside you.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Amie through the NHS during our first pregnancy. Although that pregnancy sadly ended in a loss, Amie was a constant source of support, compassion, and reassurance. When we became pregnant again with our daughter, we were so grateful to have Amie by our side once more. So, when we found out we were expecting our son, there was absolutely no hesitation - we reached out to Amie immediately.

My Ethos
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: how you are cared for during pregnancy and birth matters.
True continuity of care
Continuity of care is central to everything I do. When you are supported by a midwife who truly knows you, your history, your fears, and your hopes, care becomes calmer, safer, and more personalised. Trust builds over time, and that trust makes a real difference to how pregnancy and birth feel. In busy maternity systems, continuity can be difficult to achieve. Many women meet multiple midwives and are asked to retell their story again and again. Working independently allows me to offer genuine continuity, meaning I am there throughout your pregnancy, at your birth, and in the postnatal period. You are not meeting a stranger at one of the most vulnerable moments of your life.
Physiological birth and informed choice
I have a strong belief in the physiology of birth and in the body’s innate ability to labour and birth when it feels safe, supported, and undisturbed. This does not mean being anti intervention or having a fixed idea of how birth should look. It means understanding how birth works, protecting normal physiology where possible, and making decisions based on evidence, not fear. Informed choice sits alongside this. You deserve clear, balanced information and the time and space to ask questions, reflect, and decide what feels right for you. Whether you are planning a home birth, hospital birth, or a planned caesarean, my role is to support your choices, advocate for you when needed, and help you feel confident and informed every step of the way.
The role of the midwife
Midwives make a difference. This is world wide evidence based facts. When we have the time and freedom to build relationships, listen deeply, and advocate effectively, care becomes transformative rather than transactional. My role is not to tell you what to do or to lead your birth, but to walk alongside you. To provide evidence based guidance, reassurance, and calm presence. To hold space when things feel uncertain, to advocate when you need support, and to ensure you feel heard and respected throughout your care.
Relationship based care
Relationship-based care sits at the heart of my work as an independent midwife. For me, it means continuity, trust and genuinely knowing the women and families I support. I am not someone you meet on a rota. I am a consistent presence throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. That relationship allows care to feel personal, calm and truly centred around you. This way of working is not just about philosophy. It is backed by strong evidence. Research shows that continuity of midwifery care improves safety, reduces interventions and lowers rates of preterm birth. Quite simply, it saves lives. When I am able to practise in this model, my job does not feel like work in the usual sense. It feels natural, purposeful and deeply aligned with why I became a midwife in the first place. When your care provider truly loves their job like I do, you feel it in every single appointment and contact you have with me. This really is real midwifery.

My Positive Home Birth
When I became pregnant, I chose independent midwifery for my own care. As a midwife, I understood my options, but more importantly, I knew I needed continuity, trust and genuine support to feel safe throughout my pregnancy and birth.
