Private Antenatal Classes
You can read the books, scroll through birth stories and ask everyone you know about their labour. But nothing quite compares to having dedicated time with an experienced midwife to talk through your pregnancy, your options and the birth you're preparing for.
Public service announcement:
Your birth experience is worth investing in.
Let's be honest. Pregnancy comes with an overwhelming amount of information. Everyone has an opinion, Google has a million conflicting answers and somewhere along the way you're expected to write a birth plan, understand your pain relief options, prepare for a newborn and somehow feel ready for one of the biggest experiences of your life.
My private antenatal sessions give you something different: uninterrupted, one-to-one time with an experienced midwife to explore your options, ask all your questions and work out what's right for you.
This isn't group work. There are no other couples waiting for their turn to ask a question, no rushing through a topic because we've run out of time, and no generic course that assumes every pregnant person wants the same thing.
It's just you, your birth partner (if you'd like them there!) maybe even your dog, and of course me.
As an independent midwife, I've supported women through real-life birth experiences, helped them navigate maternity services and had the conversations that go beyond simply explaining how the system works. I understand that knowing what the guidelines say is one thing; understanding your options, asking the right questions and making genuinely informed decisions about your own care is another.

Why choose private antenatal education?
No one-size-fits-all approach.
We tailor the sessions to your pregnancy, your priorities and your circumstances.
No group sessions.
Every session is private, so the conversation is entirely yours. No feeling embarrassed for asking questions about you.
Time to go deeper.
We can explore the topics that matter most to you rather than rushing to cover a fixed agenda.
Your birth partner is included.
They can ask questions, understand your options and work out how best to support you.
No silly questions.
If you're wondering about something, let's talk about it. It's led by you.
Honest, balanced conversations.
We'll discuss the evidence, the benefits and limitations of different options, and what those choices might mean for you.
We'll delve into the things that matter to you. We'll talk through your hopes, your worries, your previous experiences and the things you're not quite sure about yet. We'll look at the evidence, explore the options and have the conversations that help you make informed decisions about your care.
"I was really pleased with my experience with Amie... She was knowledgeable, kind, respectful of my views, and really informative."

We'll cover everything from preparing for labour and understanding pain relief to different birth scenarios, feeding your baby and navigating those early postnatal days. But the topics are only the starting point.
If we need to spend longer talking about caesarean birth, we'll do that. If you're planning a home birth and want to understand how to prepare, we'll explore it. If you've had a previous experience that's affecting how you feel about this pregnancy, we'll make space for that, too.
This is your opportunity to slow down, ask the questions you might not even know you had, challenge assumptions and make decisions that feel right for you.I'm not here to tell you how you should give birth. I'm here to help you understand your options so you can decide what matters to you.
You don't need to arrive with a birth plan. You can come with a blank page, a head full of questions and a willingness to explore what's possible.
